Lighting Render / TD

On Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire, I contributed as a Lighting TD and Sequence Render TD using Clarisse and Nuke, playing a key role in the Hollow Earth extraction sequence. I optimized renders for Kong, extraction shots, foliage, cables, and facility elements to ensure high-quality output and performance. I also managed the FX setup and rendering for the whirlpool sequence, tackling complex simulations and lighting interactions. In addition, I coordinated remote rendering across multiple global locations (Montreal, Vancouver, Sydney, London) to maximize resource efficiency. I supported the compositing team by delivering advanced lighting slap comps for look development and validation, and I provided mentorship and training to junior artists, helping them navigate the pipeline and deliver work to a high standard.

Hollow Earth: Whirlpool (Full CG)

FX Rendering & Setup: Developed shading, lighting, and rendering for the whirlpool FX, including water patches, foam, mist, and electricity interacting with Kong.

Kong Rendering Optimization: Optimized Kong’s 4K renders for efficiency and quality.

FX Render Layer Management: Set up split render layers to ensure proper element tracing and seamless interaction between FX and Kong for compositing.

Global Render Farm Utilization: Leveraged DNEG’s render farms across Vancouver, Montreal, London, and Sydney for distributed rendering.

Extraction Tools

Render Setup in final 8K for Kong, extraction tools and vegetation using Clarisse's native Adaptive Sampling engine.
