Lighting Artist
On Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, I worked as a Lighting Artist at MPC, contributing to shots that involved fire FX integration. I handled the lighting setup for FX elements, refining the look through multiple iterations to meet the client’s visual expectations. My role also involved render optimization to maintain performance while preserving visual quality, and I delivered compositing slap comps with advanced layering to support the comp team and streamline the review process.
Breakdown
Flamethrower
I was responsible for the lighting setup of fire FXs, using animated fire textures constrained to flamethrowers and torches for dynamic realism. My work also included lighting the hero character with face replacement, as well as the floor environment and CG jaguars, ensuring cohesive integration and mood across the shot.
Elephant vs Jaguars
I worked through an intensive batch of lighting iterations, carefully shaping the look of the elephant and jaguars. The process involved frequent lookdev updates and close attention to detail to meet and exceed the client’s expectations.
Gem
I worked closely with my CG Supervisor to technically develop a solution for rendering curved motion blur in this shot, ensuring both accuracy and performance within the pipeline constraints.
